Dear Advocate

Dear Advocate,

You are doing good work.

You don’t hear that enough.

You are doing good work.

The work you are doing matters. Every dollar raised. Every prayer prayed. Every rally attended. Every government official contacted. Every item donated. It matters. The work you are doing matters.

I know. I’m on the receiving end.

Your dollars got me to safety. Your prayers sustained my fight. Your rallies reminded me that there are people in my corner. Your reminder to your politicians that this is an important issue to the people passed bills for funding for the services my life and healing depend on. I sit in an apartment almost completely furnished in donations, some of the first clean, decent, and bug-free furniture that I have ever owned.

You are doing good work.

Thank you for the work you do. Thank you for all the time you have spent educating people, organizing events, sharing social media posts, researching, writing letters to local politicians, and making sure my voice is heard.

Thank you for your donations of money and items. They allowed me to get a warm winter coat this year and sleep in a bed I have never been raped in. They funded my escape from men that could and would have killed me.

Thank you for your prayers. I firmly believe in the spiritual warfare that comes with being in this movement. Knowing you’ve been praying for me helps me believe in the good in this world and in a God who wants to see all His children free.

Thank you for not giving up on this fight. I know it’s hard. I know it’s exhausting, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I want you to know that when I see someone refusing to give up on the fight to eradicate human trafficking, I see someone refusing to give up on me.

Thank you for refusing to give up on me.

Love,

Me
