Position Summary:
The Manager of Financial Operations and Grant Compliance combines expertise in financial oversight, federal grant writing, and grant compliance management to support the organization’s financial integrity and funding efforts. This leadership role involves supervising financial processes, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and leading grant acquisition efforts. The position includes overseeing a bookkeeper and ensuring smooth financial audits but does not involve budget creation or reporting directly to the board.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Operations:
    • Supervise and support the bookkeeper in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
    • Develop and enforce financial processes and internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
    • Oversee the preparation and execution of financial audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Ensure timely and accurate payment processing, account reconciliations, and other routine accounting functions.
  2. Grant Compliance and Management:
    • Administer and monitor all aspects of federal grants, ensuring strict compliance with funding requirements.
    • Track and oversee grant budgets, expenditures, and deliverables to meet compliance standards.
    • Prepare and submit comprehensive and timely reports to grant-making agencies.
    • Conduct regular audits of grant activities to ensure adherence to federal regulations and organizational policies.
    • Serve as a key liaison between the organization and federal granting agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management, federal grant management, and grant compliance.
  • In-depth understanding of financial audits and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Proven success in securing and managing significant federal grants.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
